Each year our Rotary Club has representation in the National Walk to End Alzheimer's (WTEA.)
The walk is held annually in September at the grounds of Vernon Woods Retirement Community. This year the walk was held on September 14th and ten of our Rotary members participated by walking and/or making donations. One of our Rotarian's served as Marketing Chair on the WTEA Steering Committee.
This is our sixth year that we have participated in District 6900's Coins for Alzheimer's Research Trust (CART) project.
Special purple cups make their appearance on our members' tables on our first January meeting. An explanation is given at the beginning of the meeting then with reminders for the program at each successive meeting. The cups are brought out for all of the meetings January through February.
Although specific recommendations for giving are never stated to our members, we do encourage them to be as generous as they are able. Counting this year's contributions, our total contribution has now exceeded $1000.
We are confident that this year's contribution will help in the research of such a devastating disease that currently affects many of our loved ones.
This is another example of our Club members all pulling together.
(Since records are not kept on who actually donates the number of volunteers are estimated, as are the hours involved.)

Rotarians Kathy and Ken show off the slogan that says it all.
Spirits were high as volunteers geared up for a day of service and fun.
Each year we collect money at our January and February Rotary meetings.
Our members are generous each year donating to both the C.A.R.T. program and the Alzheimer's walk at Vernon Woods.
