Putting Our First Responders First

The members of our Rotary Club are proud to participate in community activities that support the men and women who protect and serve us each day. This year we participated in the LaGrange Fire Department's 9/11 Annual Memorial Stair Climb Challenge and the Police National Night Out events.

For the Memorial Stair Climb participants ran or walked 110 stadium steps up and down at the Callaway Stadium. There were 110 flights of stairs in the Twin Towers. During the event the radio traffic on 9/11 was played. LFD Chief John Brant says it’s important we never forget the events of that day.

“We are just grateful that we can honor those brave men and women that gave their lives bravely on that tragic day,” said Brant. “Brave men and women risk their lives every day to ensure the safety of others and I believe this is one of the many events in which we can show our gratitude.”

All proceeds went to the Terry Farrell Firefighter Fund of Georgia.

Nationwide Annual "National Night Out” crime and drug prevention event to: (1) heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) generate support for, and participation in local anticrime efforts; (3) strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships; and (4) send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and standing to fight back against crime.LaGrange Rotarians took an active part in this project.

These are just two examples of how our Rotary Club supports the men and women who serve our community.
