To celebrate the 100 th year of the Rotary Club of LaGrange, we are partnering with the Red Cross of
Georgia to collect 100 pints of blood. Donating blood is the perfect example of “Service above self” and
each unit donated can save up to three lives. Through this project, our Rotary Club can save up to 300
lives through four hours of time.
The American Red Cross is the largest supplier of blood products in the country at 40% of the blood
supply. The LaGrange Community is so generous with the many blood drives in the community and
therefore this felt like a perfect project for the club to celebrate its birthday with.
Throughout the 100 th year, the Rotary Club of LaGrange will host four blood drives, each with a
collections goal of 25. The goal is 100 pints of blood total for the year, and therefore we need 100
volunteers. The In-Kind donation value is $2,200 for the 100 volunteers and the impact is up to 300
people. This is a huge undertaking by the club as each person who received the life-saving blood is
someone’s beloved family member and their life is being saved. Blood transfusions are needed for
cancer treatments, childbirth complications, traumatic accidents, and so much more. Blood products
cannot be manufactured or stockpiled and the Red Cross relies on individuals to practice “Service above
self” to help save lives through blood donation.
