Last year, West Georgia Community Interact Club members designed a project that would raise money for the Rotary International's Polio Plus Campaign. This year the members of the Rotaract Club of LaGrange College and the Troup High School Interact Club also ran the project. The students from all three clubs put together small bags of Hersey's Chocolate Kisses, labeled them and then offered them for a one dollar donation to school and community members.
Thanks to Rotarian Father Tim, the WGC Interact Club offered their bags to his parishioners one weekend in February, while the LaGrange College and the Troup High School students worked the project on their own campuses. The students also used this project as an educational opportunity to offer RI polio materials. Collectively, the clubs’ projects brought in a total of $748 and together with the Gate's 2/1ratio, $2,244 was donated to RI PolioPlus.
This project benefited the Rotary International's international PolioPlus campaign. The students took advantage of the generous Bill and Melinda Gates' Foundation to spin their collected donations to even a higher sum.
This project was a international fundraiser which included young leaders and the community members of Troup County.
(Note: Although it was a bit of a time consumer, this was an easy and fun project for all of the students while it was an opportunity for them to interact with each other and members of the community, work on their public specking skills and learn more about RI's PolioPlus campaign.)
