Sweet Land of Liberty Parade
July 6, 2024, was sunny and warm, a perfect day for LaGrange's 40th annual children's 4th of July parade hosted by the Junior Service League of LaGrange. This year's theme was "Red,White & Boots." The origin of this celebration was the idea of the wife of Rotarian Jim Boyd, Annette Mills Boyd. This parade was established to give the children of LaGrange an opportunity to participate in a festive celebration of the birth of our great nation. Although both Annette and Jim are no longer with us, the parade is still held in their honor.
Each year this children's parade is well received by all. The parade route is lined with families and neighbors. The beneficiaries must include all of the parade participants plus the spectators. The parade was also covered by local media.
LaGrange Christmas Parade
December 5, 2024 was not such a warm day but it was a perfect day for LaGrange's Christmas parade hosted by the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce. This year's theme was Christmas Vacation and we all had so much fun with Cousin Eddie and the family. Rotarians continue to show support for the community and make their presence known by sponsoring the Jungle Bus to ride in the parade. Rotarians march alongside the bus and shout a joyful "Merry Christmas" to the crowd of spectators young and old.
Mardi Gras Parade
February 22, 2025 was a wonderful evening for a Mardi Gras parade. This parade came to the community via Rotarian Ken Gordon and his Krewe of Mask volunteers. Prior to the parade, Rotarian Ken presented a program to the LaGrange Rotarians on the history of Mardi Gras. Supporting and participating in the parade brings laughter and fun, not to mention beads, beads and more beads, to the community.
Participating in parades not only provides Rotarians visibility in the community but also brings a great sense of community spirit, peace building and pride. Best of all is the opportunity for fellowship among our club members. These events are covered by social media and the local newspaper.
Partner Involvement |
---|
We had many partners to make our parade participation possible. The LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce hosts the Christmas Parade, the LaGrange Junior Service League hosts the 4th of July Parade and the Krewe of Mask hosts the Mardi Gras Parade. Their support is invaluable. |
Rotarians help to assist in the running of this children's event.
Having the Jungle Bus is a fun reminder that reading can be an adventure.
Each year we pay the entry fee and provide presents for the children so that the Jungle Bus is part of the Christmas parade.
