FAMILY OF ROTARY

Our membership cares deeply about the needs and concerns of our members. We don’t want to miss an opportunity to reach out in friendship when such concerns arise. The chairperson of this committee is Lynn Dunn and all news should be directed to her at lynn.dunn@rmcpa.com

President's Message
Teamwork

Rotarians are successful people because we have the ability to martial ourselves and our resources towards the common good. What an encouraging report from the Golf & Tennis Czars that we are overcoming the odds with donations and that the morning tennis flight is SOLD OUT! The success of this event will shine as an example of our determination and ingenuity in the face of so many needs.

As a club let us show others how to go above and beyond, to not just survive, but to excel during hard times. Let us do what our club does best and “LEAD” in service when it counts the most.

“Anyone can hold the helm when the sea is calm.” ~ Publilius Syrus

This Week's Speaker
Owner - Operator

Ryan Pernice grew up here in Roswell, where he was a stand-out student who starred in numerous musical productions. After graduating from RHS, he earned a degree from Cornell University, and went to work in New York for Union Square Hospitality Group. He brought his knowledge and passion back to his hometown, and in 2011 opened Table & Main on Canton Street. He’s gone on to open Osteria Mattone, also on Canton Street, and Coalition Food & Beverage in downtown Alpharetta. They are consistently on ‘best of’ lists, locally and around the region.

Our community has been the beneficiary of Ryan Pernice’s self-described ‘wreckless optimism’. He has led the Historic Roswell Business Association, helped found Positively Roswell to get citizens engaged, and been a leader in speaking on behalf of small business.

When the pandemic swept in, Ryan immediately revamped his business model, and started a consistent conversation with the community through social media. He not only kept restaurant operations running, but added a program to feed those in need.

Ryan was named one of 2017 Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 40 Under 40 for professional and community accomplishments.  He was also named one of Roswell’s 10 Under 40 for significant career achievements and substantial involvement in our community.

Nov. 3rd Election
Poll Workers Needed

With record-breaking turnout expected in November, counties need to recruit more poll workers than ever before. Having enough poll workers helps to keep lines short and ensures a positive experience for voters.

Reach out to cobi.haggard@fultoncountyga.gov or 404-612-9150 for more information on how to sign up.

"Toolbox 2020" Needs Your Hands

Fulton County Schools has partnered with Toolbox, Inc. (a registered GA non-profit comprised 100% of volunteers) to provide a 5th grade virtual learning experience for all of its 59 elementary schools. Impacting confidence and pride, the curriculum will be delivered through FCS’s on-line network. Called the Young Apprentice Construction Club, this remarkably successful after-school (in-classroom until now) program was started here in Roswell back in 2015 with the strong support of Roswell Rotary.

Since then, the club has impacted over 500 students. This year, virtually participating students will complete the build of their very own toolbox after learning safety and how to use the tools provided by Toolbox. Set to begin in mid-October, they are preparing to engage up to 2500 kids this school year.

In order to pull this off, Toolbox needs a host of volunteers who can help with the cutting of wood and assembly of project kits to ultimately be handed out to the students. 3 hour shifts are scheduled between 9A-noon or noon-3pm on Tuesday-Sept08, Wed-Sept09 or Fri-Sept11. Be sure to email or call Rotarian John Ross, so he can fill you in further! JRoss@toolbox.LIFE or 303-981-7270.

Rotary Annual Blood Drive: 2nd date sold out at Gate City

Thank you!

Only 37% of the US can donate blood, and our club skews below that, yet we've  booked all of the appointments for our second date to donate blood.  Was the beer?  The free COVID-19 antibody test

Our thanks to Pat Rains and Michael Curling for the 'Pint for a Pint" promotion, and to our volunteers that are facilitating the publicity and donation date, Nancy Alderman, Lori Allen, Darrell Bartlett, Tim Klatt, John Reddick and Mary Trapp.  BTW:  Michael just donated pint #91!
