FAMILY OF ROTARY

Our membership cares deeply about the needs and concerns of our members. We don’t want to miss an opportunity to reach out in friendship when such concerns arise. The chairperson of this committee is Lynne Lindsey and all news should be directed to her at lynnehlindsay@outlook.com

President's Message
Faith

Thanks to the Emory Clifton Rotary Club last Friday we received 20,000 disposable and KN95 masks and over 1000 bottles of hand sanitizer. Our friends from FODAC delivered the boxes and by Monday afternoon, the packages were sorted and out the door to local charities.  The supplies were generously donated by Home Depot, UPS and the Georgia Center for Nonprofits

Rotarian Amy Brannen secured 50 doses of the Moderna vaccine that was administered Sunday afternoon to those 65 and older.   What a blessing!  I have never seen so many happy faces.  The second dose will be given February 21st.  Please thank Amy, her sister Beth Cayce, and the folks at Cara Vita for making this possible.

Miracles do not just happen; people make them happen.

This Week's Speaker
Col. Michael Steele

Col. Michael Steele (Ret.) From Statham, Georgia, attended University of Georgia, where he was an offensive lineman for the Bulldogs football team, during the Vince Dooley era. He played on the UGA 1980 national championship team, with our own Jim Broadway.

Upon graduation, he was commissioned as an infantry officer through Army ROTC in 1983. His first assignment was to the Berlin Brigade in West Berlin. Later he received a master's degree from Central Michigan University. His military education includes Airborne School, Ranger School, Joint Power Control School, Army Command and General Staff College.

Col. Steele was a U.S. Army company commander in the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment during the 1993 Somalia mission Operation Gothic Serpent, which inspired the now famous book and film "Black Hawk Down." He was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor Devise, as well as a Purple Heart and numerous other decorations.

Honor Air Decals
Support our May 11th Road Warriors Trip

Roswell Rotary will host over 60 veterans & volunteers on May 11th for a full day trip to Fort Benning Army Base. With a community wide patriotic send off, buses will transport WWII, Korean and Vietnam war veterans to enjoy a VIP tour of the military base and National Infantry Museum. The visit will include a catered luncheon featuring presentations by General Pete Jones and other high-ranking officers who will also honor each veteran with a pinning ceremony.

Five dollars each, your purchase supports our trip and increases the brands presence.  Decals are available at our weekly meeting.  Check with Alicia or Gene at Alicia@RoswellRotary.com.
