President Alex's Message

Fellow Rotarians-

Thank you to the Golf and Tennis Committee, players, volunteers, and sponsors! By all accounts it was a resounding success and we will be able to support all of our charitable endeavors.

We have accomplished a lot this first quarter- including our recent first responders cookout, as well as made great strides in our food situation. I want to draw your attention to a few of our upcoming events and initiatives.

We are busy getting veterans on our bus experience to Fort Moore / Fort Benning. If you know of any veterans, on active duty or reserve, please provide them an application for our November 10th trip so that we can continue our tradition of honoring our veterans and service members. We are also busy with our Adopt a Platoon initiative, as well as our annual basketball tournament to raise funds to support our veteran programs.

Additionally, we are excited for our German Christmas Market. We are hopeful that this will become an annual event and a terrific fundraising opportunity. We are looking for sponsors as well as businesses to have their Christmas party at the Market. This will undoubtedly be a fun and unique experience and highlight the close partnership between our City and our civic organizations.

Please remember to attend our meeting this Thursday as Mayor Wilson and his team are presenting the State of the City. There are a lot of outstanding achievements to celebrate and some reveals about our community's bright future.

All the best,

Alex

After Hours Meeting Recap

Last week's Roswell Rotary After Hours meeting was a special one! The club welcomed Berry College student Zac Adkins as he spoke on his motivational  brand One Percent Harder. OPH's mission is to empower individual stories and create a better world through personal development. He started a OPH club at his college and is working to expand the club to high schools in his hometown of Marietta. It was refreshing to hear the 19-year-old vulnerably share his struggles and how he bravely overcame them. The Club also took some group photos to be included in a feature in the Rotary magazine. Thanks for the pics, Ian!

Roswell Day of Hope

Hope Roswell hosted the 14th annual Roswell Day of Hope (RDOH) on Saturday, Sept 23rd at Roswell City Hall. 1100 people attended and there was something of interest for everyone!  Many came to enjoy the outdoors, sampling local coffee flavors while strolling through the Art section. Local artists and students had their artwork on display for sale, and all proceeds went to benefit Hope Roswell. There was live music, food trucks and games for the family.  Those in need were offered shoes, medical and dental assistance, and a nice new haircut.  Also featured were helpful tips on recognizing signs and symptoms of mental health issues, as well as human trafficking and addiction.  Roswell Rotary "stepped" in to serve by contributing money towards 1200 pairs of shoes given to people in need!
